Gold Wings by Snef

The ancient Egyptians are known as the master builders of ancient times, the Pyramids, the Sphinx but also the usage of the tides of the Nile for the benefit of agriculture is a huge part of this. Even now, thousands of years later, architecture and construction are still greatly influenced by the arts they have shown back then. It should come as no surprise that the Modders let themselves get inspired by these master builder as well. The Mod about which this article is written has become a true homage to the greatest building artists from the ancient times, by a Greatness in his own right of Modern times.
This article is about “Gold Wings” created by Snef Computer Design.

Gold is a commonly used color in Modding, but usually, it’s used to complement a color scheme. For this “Gold Wings” Snef actually used Gold as one of the main colors and I cannot think of any Mod that has ever looked more elegant than this one. It is like a computer has been loaded up with jewelry without it actually becoming excessive. To balance the powerful presence of the gold the choice fell on a clean white color and minimalistic design.

Besides all the gold, the apparent theme is ancient Egyptians, found in the many hieroglyphs which can be seen on all the larger surfaces. A large quantity of markings and drawings in a build can soon become very crowded, but in this build, it has been done in such a way that it truly can be called a tribute. The combination of the not to extreme water cooling loop with the tightly addressed cables makes this build a true pleasure to look at.

The gold on the exterior has again been added in a very meticulous way, which brings the word elegant to mind as soon as I look at this “Gold Wings”. The golden cooling elements and fittings give a real feel of luxury. Because of the way they stick out compared to the rest, the silver colored EKWB buttons really get noticed in a nice way trough which Snef gives his thanks to EKWB in a very polite manner without screaming for attention with giant logos everywhere. Not using a power supply cover balances out the already crowded case by opening up the entire bottom side of the case.

In this entire build, I could only find one thing that I find to be a bit disappointing: The GPU cover. Sadly I found this Goddess “Nekbeth” shown in vivid colors sticking out a lot compared to the rest of the case. I would’ve loved to see the wings made in gold to hint the name of the build “Gold Wings” in a very obvious way. But even as it is, the thing I find disappointing is the fact that this cover isn’t the centerpiece, she’s simply too beautiful to be kept so hidden.

p.s. I’m very happy that you decided to change the position of those SSD’s Snef, those are too good looking to hide behind the reservoir 🙂
